Sleaze to Sleek: htown's Summer Festival Bible

Come rain or shine, htown’s accumulative fashion picks for the frenzy that is: festival and event season.

Deep amidst the noise, fashion becomes a language of its own—a testament to individuality, creativity, and each event's spirit. Here at htown, we celebrate another year around the sun. Let us discuss our readily available style guide for another serene summertime.

As well as some of our top festival looks over the years, we have included your staples and interchangeable festival and event necessities. It’s time to unpack, hoping it makes your packing easier: We have even thrown in some dreamy destinations to keep the spirit alive!

1) Glasto-Sleaze

Let us start with an emblematic occasion. Glastonbury: 26 June – 30 June 2024. This year’s lineup includes the likes of Madonna, Stevie Nicks and The Prodigy. What better way to foreground Indie Sleaze than a good old British festival. Amidst the underfoot squelch and wet-wipe showers, stand some fashion-defining moments. In 2005, Kate Moss was spotted wearing a gold and gauzy mini dress, paired with THAT trophy Ibiza rocks belt and Hunter wellies. We have seen this image in surplus over the past few seasons and is for good reason. A full-circle look that has aged like fine wine. These were the days before Instagram: Yet you can bet it will inspire festival-goers for eternity. Recreating this 00’s look with the ERL Open Neck Glitter Dangerous Intarsia Raglan and EYTYS Trade Silver Shiny Black Belt  could not be any easier. After rifling through the connotations of the word ‘sleaze’ we came across ‘mud’. Glastonbury did in fact birth the Indie Sleaze movement after all.

Television presenter and model Alexa Chung knows how to execute the perfect British festival-fit. She was spotted in an effortlessly chic ensemble that perfectly encapsulated her signature style. She paired her vibrant purple jacket with intricate knit detailing, The coat, with its bold hue and tailored silhouette, served as a British practicality. A knitted jumper dress with a frayed edge, and more Hunter Wellies proves that warmth and comfort are of vital importance at Glasto. The ERL Oversized Hoodiewith similar bohemian stripes and an enlarged silhouette. The Rassvet Logo Hoodie is a great option for the same purple layering.

2) Film Festival-Luxe

Somewhere nestled in the crowds of Venice Film Festival 2023 you could find Mr Jacob Elordi, who made his first appearance in months. Championing his latest film release ‘Priscilla’ he was seen wearing bespoke Cartier and an endearing smile. It’s late August and the Italian sun is brazing the backs of our favourite celebrities. This Film Festival is a hub for the elite, pumping out exquisite looks yearly and 2023 was no different. This year's annual film festival: 28 August - 7 September 2024 comes better late than never. Summer event wear can be a challenge but we think that the Diesel J-Wire Jacket and Diesel P-Wire Trousers can solve those mid-summer qualms. Navy is the new neutral.

3) Coachella-Chic

Coachella is renowned for its mixed bag of bohemian and pop culture roots which have formulated its identity over many years. This year; over two weekends of fun, Coachella is back for 2024. It's all about the desert: 12th April - 21st of April 2024The dress code amidst its star-encrusted guests has often felt maximalist and daring over the years. Today, Coachella has transformed with a foreground for elevated basics. Many of these stars have worn utility wear and denim over the past few festivals. This 2023 Emma Chamberlain look becomes monochrome and tonal in approach, Using crossbody utilitarian accessories. The Lu’u Dan Moto L-D Jacket and the Our Legacy Sling Bag show likeness to this 2023 look.

Hailey Bieber’s (2023) Coachella look is an expertly desert denim look. Playing testament to the modern enchantment when it comes to present-day festival wear. You might still see feathered bowers and sequins shimmering amidst the sunned stars of Coachella, but most of the celebrity entourage are decidedly denim in their approach. The look exuded a laid-back yet undeniably glamorous aura; offering a modern-day bohemian presentation, which feels like it moves with the time. The Diesel T-Lifty-D Tank Top and EYTYS Benz Bronze Jean recreate the look seamlessly. There is something epically Coachella about a muddied denim and paired white vest combo.

With so much lined up; and as SS24 takes centre stage, grab your festival wear this summer at htown store.
